Technology solutions provider Theta has acquired data analytics firm Inhouse BI, a 20-year veteran of the New Zealand technology scene.
The acquisition will add considerable capabilities and strength to our offering and, at the same time, maintain the intimate qualities of privately owned Kiwi businesses. All of Inhouse‘s highly experienced staff have been brought into the business.
Wellington-based Inhouse BI specialises in digital services, with expertise in Power BI and SAP Business Objects. As a Microsoft Data Analytics Partner, they have deep knowledge of business intelligence architecture and all areas of data management.
The move will also widen Theta's geographical footprint and strengthen Wellington’s tech base.
Inhouse BI brings with them a portfolio of customers in the education, health, insurance and energy sectors. Customers of both Theta and Inhouse BI will benefit from being able to access a greater number of skills and services as a result of the acquisition.
This represents a notable win for Theta in securing talented practitioners at a time when the country faces a severe shortage of skilled IT professionals. A 2020 industry survey showed the tech sector employed roughly 112,000 people in New Zealand but required another 5000 new digital technology professionals every year to meet growing demand. More than 1 million workers will require some digital skills training in the next year.
The acquisition will allow Theta to continue to evolve by building a highly competent and capable business focused on the ever-changing needs of New Zealand organisations. Rob Lee, Theta CEO:
“We see this as a very positive step for our customers and our staff. Together with the experienced and talented tech professionals from Inhouse we now have more than 270 on staff which means we can offer an even higher level of expertise at a time when the country is crying out for it.”
Chris Norris, Inhouse BI Services Manager:
“We are incredibly excited to join the Theta family. They have been leaders in providing Kiwi businesses with high-level technology solutions for decades, and we are delighted to be able to enhance that with our expertise.”
Theta has made a string of acquisitions in recent years to consolidate locally grown IT companies into a large, proudly Kiwi, highly credible world class IT consultancy. These have included Prophesy, Designertech, IGA and Indigo. The acquisition of Inhouse BI was made for an undisclosed sum comprising Theta shares and cash, with the official handover taking place on April 1.
