MicroStrategy HyperIntelligence embeds Zero Click Analytics into Web Interfaces
MicroStrategy HyperIntelligence surfaces analytics from any browser-based application. CRM and ERP systems as well as custom apps and portals are just the beginning.
Pieter Coetzee – MicroStrategy Technical Lead – reports back from MicroStrategy World held recently in Phoenix, Arizona.
Traditionally analytics is very separate from typical business processes. Employees typically need to leave operational systems to log into a separate analytics portal before they can build or consume analytics content such as reports or dashboards. MicroStrategy HyperIntelligence solves these challenges by surfacing insights directly into any web portal without costly integrations.
People are typically too busy running their daily business-as-usual tasks to jump between systems and set up the desired filters to find information. The consequences of this are low adoption and lost time.
HyperIntelligence is built directly into the already capable MicroStrategy Intelligent Enterprise platform that was unveiled at the February 2019 MicroStrategy World conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
What is HyperIntelligence?
HyperIntelligence is an embedded analytics approach that automatically links customers, products employees, or any other entity from any of the web portals directly to the underlying governed analytics platform. When users hover on a link on their web portal, a card will pop up adding additional information as well as links that allow them to drill directly to underlying detail. This allows a person using a CRM portal to automatically surface sales or behavioural information for the focussed account - just one example of many great use cases.
Future extensions of HyperIntelligence will also include HyperVoice, adding out-of-the-box integration with Alexa for Business as well as Augmented Reality. HyperVoice will be able to respond to questions based on identity, proximity and location.
Federated Analytics: “The Open Ecosystem”
MicroStrategy’s federated platform is now even more open to other tools and technologies. Through the standardised REST APIs provided through the enhanced MicroStrategy Library, users can connect the tool they love to MicroStrategy. Connectors are already available for Tableau as well as Power BI. This platform approach provides a secured and well governed auditable back-end.
The Enterprise Semantic Graph
MicroStrategy makes data accessible through its core semantic modelling layer. This layer has been rebranded in MicroStrategy 2019 as the Enterprise Semantic Graph. This new semantic graph is the key to new Natural Language Generation capabilities as well as machine learning and pattern-based recommendations. MicroStrategy is also working on extending the Enterprise Semantic Graph to include functionality to learn and recognise correlations, patterns or exceptions. In the near future it will be able to recognise subject matter experts and influencers within the user base and make smart content recommendations accordingly. New data sensitivity features are also being added that will be able mask data based on location amongst other things. Think GDPR…
These capabilities are expected towards the end of 2019.
Transformational Mobility
Mobile Dossiers gained new features that allow the community to store bookmarks as well as automatically remember their position across devices. These features make collaboration much easier.
Data certification has also been enhanced in MicroStrategy 2019.
Cloud
In addition to Amazon Web Services, MicroStrategy is also now completely available on Azure. This allows tight integration with other Azure services including Azure SQL, Cosmos, Azure Data Lake, Databricks and Azure Machine Learning.
Summary
HyperIntelligence is definitely the most exciting new addition to the MicroStrategy Intelligent Enterprise Platform. This is a differentiator in the market and is made possible through the well-established Enterprise Semantic Graph that MicroStrategy started developing almost three decades ago. We are realising more and more the potential of this centralised repository.
HyperIntelligence brings new levels of insight directly to existing interfaces without any expensive embedding or integration. It is simply added on top of existing sites or portals – no need for integration – and highly customisable as well as broadly deployable. HyperIntelligence has the possibility to redefine expectations for analytics.
