Cloud for Good winners at the Microsoft NZ Partner Awards 2021
With no award ceremony this year, we eagerly waited for the 9 am online announcement for the Microsoft NZ Partner Awards and were absolutely over the moon when our name popped up as the Cloud for Good Award winner!
Microsoft NZ Partner Awards 2021 announcement
Microsoft New Zealand has celebrated the outstanding achievements of its Aotearoa partner network at the recent 14th annual Microsoft Partner Awards and is delighted to announce that Theta was a winner in the Cloud for Good category.
The Microsoft New Zealand Partner Awards recognise innovative partners who are demonstrating inventive use of digital technology and are open to all Microsoft partners big and small. While 2021 was a challenging year, that didn’t stop Microsoft’s incredible partners from delivering some excellent work for their customers that have helped them transform, boost their resilience or support their customers and all New Zealanders to achieve more. Theta’s work to support The Breast Cancer Foundation is a perfect example of this.
Here's a bit more about our winning project…

Breast Cancer Foundation NZ & FAQ Bot
This year, Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand (BCFNZ) adopted Theta's chatbot solution, FAQ Bot, to help manage their Pink Ribbon Breakfast fundraising drive. With over 3,000 fundraisers and a small team support team, BCNZF saved themselves around 250 hours of work over the ten-week campaign. With minimal help, the BCFNZ team set up FAQ Bot to answer the fundraisers’ most frequently asked questions easily and quickly. Since then, they’ve rolled out FAQ Bot to support other fundraising campaigns. Rob Lee, CEO at Theta:
"Everyone knows what a great job the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ does. It is such an admired organisation. That our FAQ Bot was able to make a difference to their Pink Ribbon Breakfasts gives us deep satisfaction. Winning a Microsoft Cloud for Good Award for our work with them is recognition for our teams' dedication and personal investment to make this an extra special project. It's a great end to our year and a great feeling to know that we're helping improve fundraising for the foundation that continues to make a real difference to Kiwi lives."
Matt Bostwick, Partner Director at Microsoft New Zealand:
“Theta has a long and proud history of delivering incredible work for its customers, receiving numerous award nominations over the years for its unflagging standards and excellence. This year, it was a finalist in three of our awards categories, but we’re particularly proud of how Theta has supported a charity that touches the lives of so many of us. Almost every New Zealander knows, or will know, someone affected by breast cancer, and we’re delighted that Theta has used Microsoft solutions to support highly successful fundraising events for the Breast Cancer Foundation.”
Congratulations to all the winners!

Data & AI
Together with the Electricity Authority, we designed a new modern data platform. As the first and largest Lakehouse at 5 Terabytes in New Zealand, it's helping to enhance productivity, manage costs, and create a more efficient infrastructure.
Modern Work
As a new organisation, Taumata Arowai was in a prime position to take a modern approach to its workplace and systems – securing productivity, efficiency and collaboration with best-in-class solutions. Working across several Theta practices, we implemented a suite of new solutions, creating an office environment that's easy to work within, and is seamless to the users when working outside the office.
Since publishing this blog, FAQ Bot has rebranded to Helpfruit.
