How would you describe the Innovation Lab?

Crystal: Products that take advantage of emerging and transformative technologies are created in the Innovation Lab. There's a real emphasis on creativity and innovation.

Kien: The Innovation Lab is the reason we had a chance to work with Theta. By connecting with postgraduate students via internship projects, Theta can keep a continuous connection with latest academic researches. As a result, all parties benefit from such collaboration.  

Can you share what kind of projects you worked on?

Crystal: I was placed in the Project Delivery team. I worked on test automation for Microsoft Dynamics CRM processes using EasyRepro. It's a category of integrated, data-driven software solutions that improve how companies interact and do business with their customers.    

Kien: Students are placed from the Innovation Lab into different business areas and in my case - Theta Analytics practice. My main task was R&D work for a current dashboard product on Power BI. In addition, I also helped with research work in the areas of synthetic data and IoT application for retail.

What did you learn about working in an office environment?

Crystal: Communication. Communication is not just about talk, it's about listening and understanding as well. When you're working in a team, good communication could save lots of time when you're collaborating on a project.

Kien: The consulting work environment that Theta has is interesting. This is where people can work in their own time and constantly have exposure to different projects. Work is measured by performance more than time.

What's one piece of advice you'd have for an intern starting at Theta?

Crystal: Do not be afraid to ask questions, especially if you're stuck on an issue. The people here always offer to help those who want to learn and make sure you understand the task. By doing this, learning new things and staying efficient can be done at the same time.  

Kien: Be prepared to learn, there is always something to learn!

What lies ahead for you now?

Crystal: After working in Theta, I realised that I've chosen the correct career direction. After finishing studies, I'll look for a job. Hopefully, I'll join a team like Theta and have a comfortable working environment and very supportive team members.

Kien: An open future with many choices. The experience with Theta has definitely helped me to gain the ability to have those choices.
