Theta

We're thrilled to share an inspiring collab from the frontlines of innovation and education with the talented students from Victoria University's Masters of Software Development. Together, we took off on an industry project that gives the next generation of tech extraordinaires the chance to learn more about real-world software development. These students are learning big things and making a big impact.

Our multimedia digital portfolio platform, Mixiply, is at the heart of this collaboration. With a longstanding partnership with Newlands Intermediate School and their brilliant MiniDevs, we've been able to dive deep into the educational needs and aspirations of NZ’s young Kiwis. Our journey with the MiniDevs has been inspiring and fun, providing us with invaluable insights that guide our next steps for the programme.

Innovations on the Horizon

Through the dedication of Victoria University's students, we're enhancing Mixiply to meet and exceed the evolving demands of digital education. Their work includes:

  • Improved Asset Management: from seamless uploads to integration with Google Docs and Dropbox.
  • Media Optimisation: focusing on file conversion, video compression, and image resizing.
  • Interactive Tools: introducing a 2D interactive whiteboard with engaging features and a 3D scene editor for creative explorations in a browser environment.

A Collaborative Masterpiece

This project is a testament to the power of collaboration between academia and industry. Conrad Spohr, Industry Engagement Manager for the Industry Alliance Programme, explains:

"In our collaboration with Theta, Victoria University's Master's students are immersed in the dynamic realm of software development, actively contributing to the advancement of Mixiply. This endeavour transcends mere academic exercise; it represents a genuine application supporting live collaboration. Our students are intricately engaged with Theta's seasoned professionals, signifying more than just education; it symbolizes the transformation of our students into adept professionals ready to navigate the complexities of the software development field."

This experience is shaping our students into future leaders of the tech world, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and real-world experience to excel in their careers.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in this transformative project. Your hard work, creativity, and passion are what drive us forward. Here's to continuing to break boundaries and redefine what's possible in education and technology!

Final Presentations Were a Blast!

We wrapped things up with the group presentations and the teams smashed it. Here’s what the Industry Alliance Program had to say:

“Yesterday was an amazing experience as we had the final presentation for our industry projects. A cornerstone of work-integrated learning is that the students (ākonga) get practical experience working with real customers in real situations (āko for all partners).
These projects were invaluable to learning and taught the ākonga how to work in teams, deal with customer requests, problem-solve and apply their knowledge to practical situations. Kāhore taku toa i te toa takitahi, he toa takitini. We cannot succeed without the support of those around us!”
